Header Sample

Here is a sample of a header I might use.

I have yet to confirm fonts & colour schemes with my client, but I think if he sees the fonts/colours I was thinking of together he might be more convinced.

I will make more examples for him to consider.

For my actual project, I think I will take the photos of the paper myself [photos taken by me can be found on my Flickr account. i may or may not put a link here when i get home seeing as i cannot actually get on to flickr]

Font Research

By going through Photoshop and comparing different fonts, I have managed to narrow down the fonts I want to use. I now have to meet with my client to discuss which fonts I should use.
Frankin Gothic Heavy - This font is clear, bold and simple. I think it will work as a direct contrast to the grungy, ripped paper background and navigation bar I have in mind.
Gill Sans MT -Much like the previous font, this is simple and clear, it is not as bold so would be a good font for body text.
Veranda - This is another simple and clear font, which will work well with contrast.
Armalite Rifle - The grungy look is what I origninally had in mind, this font could be good for the header as it stands out yet would fit in with the ripped up paper look.
Broken 15 - This is also grungy but it is a little small so would not be easy to read. I might consider this for a header.

Progress Update on Poverty Website Project

I've just finished my brief & gantt chart. I'm still not sure as to what font and what not I want to use, but after some research, I will be.

Final Design

My design is finished and I'm quite happy with it.

Although I did not use the alcohol bottle image I uploaded a while ago as it didn't fit with the design, I managed to recycle the images and make backgrounds by using gausian blur and inverting the colour to creat constrast.

My Information

All my information has been re-written now and placed in to InDesign.
I am now just fine tuning and fixing any small things that need to be fixed to make my design perfect.


Parties.
"If all your mates are drinking at a party and you don’t want to you can feel left out, it’s not usually as simples as saying “no thanks.” Some people drink because they want to fit in.
If you really don’t want to drink and you keep getting pressured, try coming up with an excuse not to drink such as “I’ve got a hockey game tomorrow” or “My granddad was an alcoholic.”

If you’re one of a group of people who don’t want to drink, make sure you have a signal to tell each other when it’s time to leave and stick together.

If you’re the one throwing the party be considerate for everyone going make sure there are non-alcoholic alternatives such as Coke, or fruit juice. Provide sober areas for people aren’t drinking."


How Alcohol Effects You.
"Alcohol is a mood altering drug. Meaning it lifts your mood in certain amounts.

But it can also have negative affects on the brain, body and other people. When you drink your coordination, judgement, reflexes, memory and vision are all reduced a considerable amount, making it harder to do simple tasks.

If a person consumes large amounts of alcohol on a regular basis it can affect your health, especially your liver. It is absorbed in to your blood steam which travels around every organ in the body.

Life threatening illnesses such as cancer can also be a result of heavy drinking.

31% of all traffic related deaths of people aged from 15 – 20 were a result of drunk driving. Because of alcohols affects, it makes it harder to drive, putting you and others at risk. In some cases alcohol can make people violent."

Today in class I made an image for my leaflet.

Today I began to write my information.


What is Alcohol?
Alcohol is a drug that affects both the brain and body. Each year it costs the government over $1.4 billion in crime, social welfare and public health due to alcohol related incidents. Alcohol abuse can lead to loss of coordination, slowed reflexes, memory lapses and even blackouts. Long term alcohol abuse can lead to liver disease and other life threatening illnesses. People are attracted to alcohol because of the feeling it gives them, because of peer pressure, because of exposure to things they see on television and in movies and because they see their parents doing it. Alac statistics show that over 40% of youth under 17 are “binge drinkers”.

I also started planning the fonts I want to use. I want my title and front cover to resemble the TV show "Skins" because it is popular and recognizable.
